– Loved it!
After fracturing my hip playing rugby and being unable to do sports i tried swimming. While I could swim with a regular pull buoy, holding it between my legs caused muscle pain around the injury. This product was fantastic because you can ‘clip’ it around your ankles, there was no more muscle pain and I was able to swim. Now that the injury has heeled, I still use it! The ankle design works really well and it is designed that it can be used like a regular pull buoy too. I also find it works reasonably well as a kickboard. Overall would definitely recommend – great float!

– Watch their video before use
I watched their video and it explained both how to use the device and their thinking. This made it easier for me to adapt to the different body position that results in having the pull buoy all the way down at your ankles.
The swimmer in the video does very smooth flip turns. I’m having difficulties, I am currently doing open turns, and I’m comfortable with that. Not having to clench the buoy as I swim makes for a more relaxed pull. I am practicing my flip turns and they are slowly improving.
It also works well as a kick board. I’m stretching out more and getting a better body position.
I think that you do have to change a few of your preconceived notions to enjoy this product.

I am a Masters swimmer. When I was traveling I swam with another Masters group and their Coach had me swim with a pull buoy at my ankles. I could really feel the drag on my feet when I would get out of streamline. So I purchased this buoy and it has worked wonders for me. First of all, I now know what it means when they say “engage your core”. I have found that when my legs get out of streamline that I can simply “engage my core” to get back into streamline and remove that drag. I can feel the muscles required to do this for the first time. Best part: remove the buoy and you can still feel it – both in the pool and ocean swimming. One of my buddies had to try it and after a 100 he said he could really feel it working the core. Works great for flip turns, not as good for open turns. When used between the thighs, I found it is a bit wider than your normal pull buoy, and that it has less buoyancy than the normal pull buoy.

I tried out my friend’s Finis axis buoy at his suggestion and found it to be a vast improvement over holding a bouy between my legs to immobilize my legs while I did the freestyle. That very day I ordered an axis buoy and have been using it every day with great success. It’s sturdy, easy to use and well worth the moderate cost.

– Most versatile buoy out there!
I saw this on several different training videos and wanted to give it a try! I am a 55 yo Masters competitive swimmer. Fly and IM are my specialties. This buoy was mentioned as being great for Butterfly and IM training, so I wanted to buy it. It works great! I have pretty thin ankles, but it fits snuggly and feels great. It has two possible positions on the ankles and can even be used as a traditional buoy between your legs. I can get a really good workout when using it for Fly pulls and not too much strain on my back. Really great item to have in my swim bag to ensure a varied workout. I am very happy with it.
